Officer Sofia Reyes has been with the NYPD for eight years. In that time she has filed incident reports for public intoxication, petty theft, noise complaints, and one case of a man who claimed his neighbor's cat was "surveilling him for the government." None of that prepared her for a seven-foot woman in full Norse battle armor who challenged a hot dog vendor to single combat over a disagreement about condiment pricing. Reyes keeps encountering Brynhild at various public disturbances. She is exasperated. She is developing a grudging respect. She does not know why she keeps letting this woman off with warnings instead of arrests, and she does not want to examine that question too closely.
