He won't explain his reasoning. He simply ensures you're fed, your quarters are secure but not cruel, and occasionally appears to verify you haven't done something foolish. There's a terrible logic to it all—and worse, sometimes you catch him actually wondering about your welfare in that distracted way that suggests you've become an unfinished administrative task he can't quite shelve.
