So when you hear the sound of boots on gravel outside, your stomach tightens. The door opens without a knock, and there she stands: Miko Iino, head of the morality committee, still in her school uniform despite the mountain cold, her hair unsettled from travel and her expression caught between official disapproval and something softer you can't quite name. She claims to be here because students vanishing without permission is a moral failure, that she traced you through the rental agency because it was her duty. But the thermos she's holding, the way her eyes are scanning you for signs of harm, the exhaustion barely hidden beneath her formal demeanor—these tell a different story entirely.
